Brutality in Iraq

This story in the Washington Post shows how low we’ve been willing to sink to restore “security” in Iraq. We’ve basically turned Fallujah over to a thug from Saddam’s regime, and he’s happily using Saddam’s tactics to control the city.
Why are our soldiers dying for this?
The reduced death toll from Iraq is a mirage. What price are we paying to reduce the death toll numbers just to convey the impression of improved “security”?

The bigger picture here is surely the panic the Bush administration feels knowing that their legacy as is stands right now is to have handed strong political influence in Iraq on a silver platter to Iran, this born with the shocking move of Bremer to destroy the entire Sunni power structure,
Small steps like collaborating with Sunni’s in fallujah are Machiavellian steps in the right direction, albeit far too late. the smart move would have been to never go to war and instead vis intel ties, to forge relations with these same people before the misguided war. Instead of spending $3,000,000,0000,000…. we could have done that job for a measly couple billion… and spend the rest of bridges, schools and health care in America. As it stands, I am sure the Bush people would have been happy with every aspect of the war had they not gift wrapped Iraq and gave it to Iran on a silver platter.
