McCain willing to go into the gutter

I have been giving McCain the benefit of the doubt. He’s shown he’s willing to say almost anything to get elected, but I thought there might be lines he would not cross. Well, he brought up the Weather Underground issue on his own today, so he’s making it clear that Karl Rove tactics will be front and center in his campaign.
Given that John McCain actively sought the endorsement of a right wing nut who has called the Catholic Church the “great whore,” he might want to be careful about going down this path.

America elected George W Bush president thus proving that Americans are, collectively, a bunch of idiots. The US deserves high oil prices, the war, the reduction in standard of living of the middle class, no health insurance, etc… When they voted for Bush the first and second time in particular, the USA openly choose an obvious moron.
Why should McCain or Hillary try to appeal to good sense, Americans want this crap and they deserve it. Look at elections in other parts of the world and you’ll see nothing remotely similar to the stupidy of this campaign. Look at surveys that quantify standards of living and you will see America moving down rapidly in the last 8 years. Bottom line, McCain and Hillary are doing exactly what is needed to get elected by a nation comprised of at least 51% idiots. Why would they do anything different??

You’re right. He’s doing this because it has been successful.
But politics goes in cycles and we’ll see how effective it is this year.
Also, he’s not as good a liar as Bush. This stuff will blow up in his face.

He brings up an issue that people are talking about and it’s gutter politics? The left crumbles whenever there is anything remotely resembling an attack on BO. He’s a big boy, he can take care of himself…For God’s sake, this is politics, and saying what JM said was “gutter” politics is more than a bit of a stretch.

Having the cadidate bring up one of these loose associations is lame. It means he can’t debate on the issues.
Yes, it’s politics, but it’s Karl Rove politics. The same kind of politics that destroyed McCain in 2000 and the same kind of politics he used to rail against.
He’s showing how low he will go, so I will have no sympathy for him when he gets ripped apart for his own questionable “associations.”
He’s flipped on everything else, so it should not be surprising that he’s totally willing to sell out his integrity here.

OOOoooo The EVIL Karl Rove— Give me a break, Gerardo- you say I spout the rights talking points– the left LOVES to bring up the name Karl Rove like he’s some anti-christ and that kind of shit never played out before. The Clintons perfected that crap and now you guys HATE that is so effective on the right. Please.
What is so pathetic in all this is how the left is just in tears whenever BO is attacked. Nixon, Reagan, the Bushes, every conservative member of congress is mercilessly attacked by the left as a sport, and now it’s happening to one of their own and it’s such terrible state of affairs for our political system…
It’s all so very hypocritical…

I’m glad Nick is around to add a reality check to G’man’s lefty whining. Gerardo should give Nick space on this site to balance out the extreme distortion.

Hilarious. I wonder which of my right-wing-nut friends posted that one
