Sarah Palin passes her first test
I know Democrats are trying to paint Sarah Palin as Dan Quayle with a pony tail, but so far she passed her first test.
McCain intoduced her at a rally in Dayton, Ohio, and Sarah Palin was very comfortable and well-spoken on stage. She didn’t have that “deer in the headlights” look that Dan Quayle made famous back in 1988.
I still think she is a very risky choice, and it remains to be seen how she handles the scrutiny and tough questions on the issues, but she has charisma and she’s very good in front of a crowd.

Risky move by McCain though Palin does guaratnee that anti abortion nuts and the entire state of Alaska will vote for McCain
The “Great One (Rush)” used to say he DIDN’T want to see Hillary age in office (and he thought the country didn’t want that either). During her speech, he whispered in the background– “I’d LIKE to see HER age in office,” I’d have to agree
she has a great rack, nice full lips and a sweet ass. considering she gave birth only months ago, it’s all quite impressive. if the future of america were not at stack, I might vote for her myself. but the USA does not need another radical neo con like Palin McCain in the white house after 8 years of Bush Cheney, “eight is enough”
Sounds like JP is ready to flip! Too bad you’re on another continent otherwise I’d work harder on you.
one last comment, looking at some of Palin’s speeches on youtube, it really is the stuff of small town politics. She seems good at it too but this stuff doesn’t stack up to the problems our nation currently face.
Reading on I found that McCain has only met Palin once, and decided on Palin at the very last minute. So I think it very likely that her acceptance speech, which was quite well thought out, was actually written by the McCain team.
Bloggers in Alaska seem to have lots of ammo to put some dents in Palin’s armour and over the next 65 days she will have many situations in which McCain’s team won’t be able to write speeches for her and she won’t be able to talk about hunting and fishing. Further, I bet the Press already have hundreds of folks digging into Tropper Gate and this will put her, fairly or unfairly, under enormous pressure.
She may be up to the challenges but I see a tough ride coming. McCain may end up regretting not going with a proven player
Hey G,
This is coming from someone who had absolutely no plan to vote for either Obama or McCain. I was going to “waste” my vote and vote for Mickey Mouse, who I personally think couldn’t do any worse than these 2 guys.
All of this has changed in the last month. The first indication I got that Obama really wasn’t interested in “change” was when he went to the AIPAC meeting in Washington and bowed before the biggest lobbying group in America – the group that had a HUGE impact on the stupid decision to go to war with Iraq – and he basically said, “I’ll do whatever you want me to – I am at your mercy”. If he was a true agent of change, he would have went there and said, “I care about America’s interests first…you can take your money and give it to another candidate”. But instead, he did what every other politician does – he went there, hat in hand, and kissed their asses and promised no change at all.
Next, he chose Biden as his running mate. Joe Biden, a guy who has been in DC since I was born. A guy who is partly responsible for the mess this country is in now – he’s not an agent of change – he’s more of the same. He’s represents everything we hate about our government. If the messiah Obama was truly after some kind of “change”, Biden would NEVER even be on his VP radar.
Now, on to McCain. There isn’t much I like about this guy. He’s like the Joe Biden of the GOP. He’s entrenched and is a member of the old guard. He can’t be trusted as a true conservative, and he’s probably only slighly smarter than W, who has done more to damage the GOP than any person in the last 50 years. I was all set to, like I said, write in Micky Mouse as my choice for President. That is, until yesterday. After watching Palin, I was, for the first time since Ronald Reagan gave a speech, completely inspired. She’s a mother of 5, was a mayor, and then went against the establishment GOP in Alaska and won the governorship. She’s not your typical Republican, spewing forth the same crap as Rush Limbaugh. She’s a true American. She’s lived a great, full life and is only 44. She came across to me as tough, level-headed, and competent. To me, she is the ONLY person in this race that I can actually see doing things rather than just giving a good speech. She is the only agent of change in this race, and I am going to vote for McCain because of her – no other reason – and all I can hope for is that McCain steps aside after 4 years so the true leader of the future can step forward. I love this choice, and it’s going to make a big difference, in my opinion. Here’s one vote he has because of Palin.
By the way, JP, she is definitely NOT a neo-con. I just hope Wolfowitz and John Bolton don’t kidnap her and brainwash her – but I think she’s tough enough to kick both of their asses (along with Bolton’s porno ‘stache).
Shawn – I’m not surprised you find her appealing, but frankly you can’t say she’s not a neocon. Frankly, you and I and most people know very little about her. The fact that she is a mother of 5 is irrelevant.
I am about to post something that shows she misled us in that speech when she bragged about being against the bridge to nowhere. Turns out she was strongly for it when she ran for governor.
G-
I don’t think she’s a necon because she has supported Buchanan – I will find support (link) for that -
I know she supported Pat, but she just has no statements at all about foreign policy, other than some bizzarre statements about the war being about oil. She seems clueless.
