Bill Clinton campaigns for Barack Obama in Florida
Barack Obama has been surging in the polls, and now the Obama campaign is bringing out the big guns.
Bill Clinton campaigned today for Obama in Florida. John McCain’s lead has evaporated in Florida and Ohio, and some polls show Obama with a lead in those states. Clinton can be a huge help getting independents and Democrats to fall in line for Obama, particularly in the current economic environment.
Up to now Clinton has been a liability. He’s terrible in interviews as he can’t hide his disapointment that Obama beat Hillary for the nomination. But on the stump he’s a huge asset. He knows how to give a speech, and he knows how to frame an argument that will persuade voters. If he keeps this up and Hillary continues to hit the campaign trail, Obama should be able to close the deal.

Obama is running a much better campaign the last few weeks and McCain has slipped.
The VP debate will be interesting. Palin has the advantage of working to low expectations and I think Biden needs to be gracious but aggresive, a hard line perhaps for him to hold.
I personally hope in any case, that Obama does not play it safe in the next weeks. One of the persons who posts a lot on this blog, I cannot remember who, continues to refer to the Bradley effect. I have my head in the sand and only realised what that was a few days ago. I do think the polls for Obama might be a few points high due to certain demos not wanting to admit race bais. So I think Obama has to be up 5 points or more in polls to win by 1 or 2 points on election day. So he can never play it safe
I disagree regarding the Bradley effect. Throughout the primaries, he usually outperformed the polls. People are not shy about saying they will not vote for him, so I don’t see that as a problem.
That said, I think he should remain aggressive, and I believe he will.
I think the Bradley Effect was from a California campaign in 1982. As we sit here 26 years later, I *hope* that people feel more comfortable giving an honest answer to pollsters.
A typical Democrat, beign afraid of his/her own shadow is not going to be afraid of who is asking the question? and then giving an honest answer?
You’re kidding!
