Another debate victory for Obama
It was another easy victory tonight for Barack Obama over John McCain. He was more persuasive, and much more presidential. McCain is a grumpy old man.
So much for the anticipated personal attacks from McCain. It’s much harder to make these types of attacks when you have to face the person you’re smearing. McCain didn’t have the guts to try it.

To use a basketball analogy, Obama is up 7 with under two minutes to play and McCain has gone into scramble & foul mode. All Obama has to do is hit most of his free throws, and he’ll get the win.
It is time for McCain to walk off into the sunset. He is too old for the job. Lets bring in some new blood to help turn this ship around.
My Republican friends are starting to give up. McCain looks erratic. When historians study this election I think 3 things will stand out.
Palin’s Couric interview: No matter how McCain’s team try to spin this as some sort of liberal media conspiracy, the fact is Katie Couric has always been America’s sweetheart and people trust and like her. There simply is no good spin for the performance in those interviews and this was a dreadful moment for McCain, as Americans realized that Palin was flawed.
The financial crisis: This came at the worst possible moment for McCain and his reaction was also terrible. He seemed to lurch uncontrollably from one knee jerk reaction to another while Obama displayed a very presidential coolness.
McCain’s behavior in the debates: “That one” was McCain’s equivalent to Al Gore’s sighs. Americans like their President to demonstrate social grace. Arrogance is a no no.
Another thing occurred to me as I watched the debate. This is looking more and more like Dole vs. Clinton. Dole was old, negative and mean-spirited. Clinton was well-spoken, charismatic and was attractive to moderates and independents.
Obama has a funny name, is half-black and has distant ties to Islam, and these things have worked against him. Still, he leads by 5-8 points in the national polls. The environment is such that it is doubtful that any Republican could win this year. If a young Clinton was the Democratic nominee, he’d be ahead by 16 points right now, the difference being that he’s white and more “American” in some people’s eyes.
