Those nutty right-wingers

They’re now concerned about banning part-human, part-animal creatures. Apparently they’ve been watching True Blood and they’re worried about human-animal hybrids. Keith Olbermann offers up the ridicule they deserve.

Spying on Americans by the NSA

I’m watching Countdown and Keith Olbermann is interviewing former NSA analyst Russell Tice. Tice has been explaining how the NSA has been snooping on ordinary Americans, including phone calls, faxes, emails etc. He specifically stated that the NSA was tracking major American news organizations and their reporters.

This is outrageous and scary as hell. It will be interesting to see what the Obama administration does with this.

Crazy Keith

23/6 compiled Keith Olbermann’s special comments in one crazy and hilarious minute.

I’m a fan of Olbermann’s show, but I can see why some don’t like him much, and this clip shows him at his self-righteous worst. That said, he was one of the first in the media to call out the Bush administration for their more outrageous acts, so much of the bluster was more than warranted.

Also, there’s one big difference between Keith and other blowhards like Bill O’Reilly – he has a sense of humor and can laugh at himself. I first saw this clip on Keith’s show. He also showed the over-the-top SNL skit about him last week.

O’Reilly, on the other hand, would probably have put 23/6 on his enemies list, calling them left-wing radicals for questioning him in any way.

MSNBC shuffles lineup for election coverage

MSNBC needed to make this move. Having Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews anchor coverage of the debates was a mistake. David Gregory will now take over as anchor of election coverage during the debates.

I’m a fan of Olbermann’s show, but he clearly has a point of view, and that point of view always comes across in his election coverage. He should be on the panel with the columnists.

Matthews is all over the place. He also always has an opinion, and he’s usually out of control. He should also be on a panel.

David Gregory is a solid reporter, and he’s not as interesting when he’s asked to give his opinion on news developments, but he can handle the anchor position without coming across as an advocate of either side.

Rachel Maddow gets her own show on MSNBC

Keith Olbermann announced the news on Daily Kos, and it will be officially announced tomorrow. Rachel gets the 9 pm slot, and it will be interesting to see what happens to the Dan Abrams show.

Rachel is an excellent commentator. Conservatives will howl that MSNBC is becoming even more liberal, but she is extremely talented so they can’t attack her ability.

Great move.
