Calling Bill Richardson

It will be very interesting to see what Bill Richardson does now. Will he endorse either candidate?

Clinton beat Obama overwelmingly with the Latino vote. Obama needs to make inroads with this community to have a chance at the nomination. A Richardson endorsement would be huge for Obama, while a Richardson endorsement of Hillary would help her but would probably be seen a move prompted by loyalty.

NBC projects Hillary winner in Nevada

Another big win for Hillary. The odds against Obama keep getting bigger.

Edwards, on the other hand, got crushed with roughly 5%.

Expect Mike Bloomberg to get closer to a decision.

UPDATE: Looks like Obama won more delegates – 13-12.

So who won Nevada?

Also, Andrew has an update on Clinton dirty tricks. This is old-school, bare-knuckle politics. Obama’s supporters are doing the right thing in pointing this out because it fits Obama’s narrative that we need to move beyond this kind of dirty, polarized politics.

Obama’s message

Joseph J. Ellis explains how Barack Obama’s message of hope and unity has roots in our deepest political traditions, going back to Lincoln and the Founding Fathers.

Some have criticized Obama’s message as just a bunch of clever speeches. Well, as Obama likes to say, words matter. The message of hope and unity is a powerful one. Let’s hope it’s more powerful than that of the petty politics we have endured over the past several decades.

Clinton and Edwards criticize Obama remarks

This is politics for idiots. Take something your opponent says, and distort it to create a straw man argument.

Barack Obama made a simple statement – that the GOP in recent history was the party of ideas because they were challenging conventional wisdom. Bill and Hillary immediately started saying that Obama claimed all the “good ideas” cam from the GOP. Kos rips their ridiculous arguments to shreds here and here.

Bill and Hillary Clinton think the voters are morons. They’re hoping the voters ar morons. It’s their only hope.

Russ Feingold slams John Edwards

He has a point:

The one that is the most problematic is (John) Edwards, who voted for the Patriot Act, campaigns against it. Voted for No Child Left Behind, campaigns against it. Voted for the China trade deal, campaigns against it. Voted for the Iraq war … He uses my voting record exactly as his platform, even though he had the opposite voting record.

When you had the opportunity to vote a certain way in the Senate and you didn’t, and obviously there are times when you make a mistake, the notion that you sort of vote one way when you’re playing the game in Washington and another way when you’re running for president, there’s some of that going on.
